Well... This is the Right Direction. There is no way to support old LTS kernels for 20+ years (who, the heck, will support any RT Linux kernel for the once released equipment for 20+ years, only critical bugs), Rather for 2 to 4. Then, the final freeze should come. IMHO.

As Fedora does (as example), correct (even for 14 months per release, at most)? ;-)

I suspect that this increases the chances of Debian choosing the same
version for buster because it gives more time to validate/stabilize it.
And that should also help us picking it as next SLTS.

PS: 4.9 is now receiving 6 years maintenance from Greg as well, again
due to Android needs.
